Buckthorn Yellow 4

This heavy weight cloth is a bright yellow colour and has been dyed using buckthorn berries with an alum mordant. It is a plain (tabby) weave that is woven from 100% pure new wool. This cloth is similar to a Melton but is not as heavily felted. It weighs approximately 600 grams per square meter (18oz per square yard) and is 30 inches (76cm) wide.

Because this cloth has been dyed with natural dyes using period techniques the dyeing is not perfectly even. The long image shows a two meter sample of the cloth so you can see the typical variations in the dyeing.
